The Lada Niva, the Lada Riva and the Zaz.....all examples of Soviet Cars and Trucks, the proud history of Soviet cars! Some have a bad reputation, some were less then inspired but some were very interesting and have a special place in history.
I've personally found the history of Russian and Soviet cars fascinating from the copies of Fiats and American cars , to the curious intervention by political leaders, the inspired modifications ,or more often puzzling modifications. The story is an interesting one and a very Soviet one.

The decking Soviet Union produced an aircraft the SU-25 which has a philosophy based in the history of WW2 and the IL2 strike aircraft. When the Eastern bloc collapsed and western test pilots had full access to many eastern designs they often first gravitated to testing MIG-29 and other topline fighters. However the SU-25 proved the most fascinating plane.....easy to fly, maneuverable a pure pilots vehicle. The SU-25 is a very robust and armored plane meant for flying close to the enemy and delivering heavy ordnance. Much like the A-10 the SU-25 is compact, fast and more economical with ability to operate and land in very harsh environments. The SU-25 was nicknamed "the German machine" by Chechen rebels for its savage accuracy. The SU25 is a notable aircraft.

 Russian phrasebook, Berlitz edition, I used the Berlitz version myself and found it with the most accurate and easy to use phonetic layout. I found various sections relevant and easy to navigate. I've owned several and I prefer Berlitz versions over others for those reasons.
